Series Notes:
All the "Home Sessions (Raw Singles)" series of recordings follow the parameters of making live music. Each song is performed and recorded live, in one take. Sometimes other musicians join in on the song, sometimes Daniel plays and sings alone. Either way, there is only a single track, no doubling up, no layering.
I wrote this a few days before Christmas 2015. No matter how festive the holiday season is I always feel a bit melancholy this time of year. I think it was this post below that came across my facebook profile that sparked this song:
"Some thoughts as we enter the holiday season, It is important to remember that not everyone is looking forward to Christmas. Some people are not surrounded by large wonderful families and friends. Some of us have problems during the holidays and are overcome with great sadness when we remember the loved ones who are not with us. For many, it is their first Christmas without a particular loved one, many others lost loved ones at Christmas time. And, many people have no one to spend these times with and are besieged by loneliness. We all need caring, loving thoughts right now. May I ask my friends wherever you might be, to kindly... support all those who have family problems, health struggles, job issues, worries of any kind and just need to know that someone cares."
lyrics
Candles and Christmas lights
Singing carols on starry nights
It's a season to give and celebrate
But peace is still in pieces on the earth
That's full of men's will to take more
Than they give before it's too late
And I'm singing Merry Christmas
Another year is leaving us
Just like Grandma did in the Fall
Happy New Year
Welcome to an older age
Resolutions don't resolve
I've got loved ones in my living room
And loved ones in my memories
But voices from the past are in my head
And the past once held the future
But the future's now the present
And it's different than I thought
And I'm here instead
Singing Merry Christmas
Another year is leaving us
Just like Grandma did in the Fall
Happy New Year
Welcome to an older age
Resolutions don't resolve
