about

This past year I met Australian musician Ben Lee through a platform called Steemit. We collaborated together on a couple of songs for an open mic and recorded one of his hits called"Rise Up" and then this new song of mine called "Georgia".

"Georgia" is about the country, not the state. I always wanted to visit there after I heard about its famous folk music and a few years ago I happened to be working nearby in eastern Turkey, so I went. It is just beautiful there along the Black Sea Coast and the Caucases Mountains...

This song came from a conversation I had with a young fellow I met who grew up in the U.S., but was originally from Iraq. He described how difficult it is to be stuck between two worlds, and how he doesn't really feel connected in either Iraq or America.

I know this feeling and figured Ben might as well since he is originally from Australia but has been living in L.A. for quite some time.

lyrics

The rain pounds against the window
The train rocks through the night
Unfamiliar words are all around
And I hold on tight

Oh those days in Georgia
But not the one you know
We had mountains with
early morning snow
Oh those days in Georgia
But not the one you see
Those black waters they still
Speak to me

Now this city is a wonder
Now I guess I have it all
And I’m rising to the top
But I’ve never felt so small

Oh those days in Georgia
But not the one you know
We had mountains with
early morning snow
Oh those days in Georgia
But not the one you see
Those black waters they still
Speak to me

Sing me a song of sorrow
With your sweet harmony
'cause yesterday’s tomorrow
Is a place I’m bound to be

Now this house is full of people
Another year and we rejoice
But I slip into the shadows
But I guess I’ve made my choice

Oh those days in Georgia
But not the one you know
We had mountains with
early morning snow
Oh those days in Georgia
But not the one you see
Those black waters they still
Speak to me
