When I was younger I'd spend some summer nights cat fishing and playing music with some of my friends. One of these friends was Thad Williams, who is now the lead singer for the band The American Landscape. We have reconnected recently after about 15 years, and Thad came over to help me out with February's release. He has one of those voices that just rings with emotion, and you really get a sense of it in this recording.

"Syria, West Virginia" was mostly written about war-torn Syria, but when I sing it I also see West Virginia in my head as well.
